The Crestfallen
The Poet
0
I have never seen you before
nor have I ever felt your touch.
I cannot meet you at the store
to help buy you a new hair brush.
Yet we do talk all of the time
even though I’ve not heard your voice,
never to share a glass of wine
as right now we don’t have that choice.
I cannot tuck you into bed
and I can’t even wipe your tears
as I scream for you in my head
as to lose you is what I fear.
Perhaps for this life, I will fail at Love’s game.
If we had not met it would have been a shame.
Today’s Day 4 prompt for National Poetry Writing Month is to write a sad poem, using short, simple words. You can find the writing prompt here from napowrimo.net.
